Forest Portrait: Tree of Life, Kalaloch Beach | Olympic National Park

Late Afternoon light on Kalaloch Beach (Pronounced. "Clay-Lock") cast the Sitka Spruce known as the "Tree of Life" into sharp profile.

Walking along on Kalaloch Beach (Pronoucned "Clay-Lock"), on the southern edge of the Olympic National Park you will come to a Sitka Spruce locals call the "Tree of Life". A specimen that defies all odds to live---not only "hangin" by it;s it roots---but weathering intense Pacific Storms to its face, and a waterfall that once fed it, eroding away its base.
