Pando Forest: The Trembler | Fishlake National Forest

Also known as the "Trembling Giant", the Pando earned it's common name from a unique characteristic of it leaves, which feature a wide body and unique strategy for how they connect to the branch. Combined, they allow the tree to protect itself against high winds helping preserve moisture, as the leaves move, the tree appears to shimmer and tremble. Pictured here, high winds on on the last day of Summer 2017 reveal the Pando's unique design strategy.
