Lake Crescent | Olympic National Park

A break in the clouds reflect off the clear Blue Waters of Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park.

DETAIL:
12 miles long and 600 feet deep, the crystal blue waters of Lake Crescent for the northern edge of the Olympic National Park along Hwy 101. Formed by a glacier carved valley that was isolated by a landslide and filled with water some 8,000 years ago, Lake Crescent is known for the unusual clarity of its water, the result of low nitrogen content making it inhospitable for algae to take up and cloud the water.
